Obby Tukan

Obby Tukan, also known as Imaginator, is an artist from Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), who began his artistic career on the streets. With a strong interest in street art, his practice has evolved through an experimental and unrestricted approach. His work is characterised by a free, expressive painting style and a distinctive use of bold, vibrant colours that reflect the spontaneity and energy of urban expression.

Imaginator’s personal perspective reflects on how we position ourselves and respond to the idea of “Non-Utilitarian Ecological Consumption”, emphasising a growing sense of interconnectedness with nature. As people develop deeper spiritual and emotional relationships with their surroundings, this connection can enrich the meaning of life while reducing feelings of alienation. Such awareness contributes to the sustainability of ecosystems. Fundamentally, humans and the natural world remain intrinsically linked, continually giving to one another, provided that humans choose not to take excessively from the gifts offered by nature. Through this work, Imaginator seeks to visualise the interconnectedness and harmony between humans, nature, and other living beings.
