Suvi Wahyudianto
Suvi Wahyudianto (born 28 April 1992, Bangkalan, Madura) is a young contemporary artist from Madura, currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Fine Arts at Institut Teknologi Bandung. In 2018, Suvi received the UOB Painting of The Year Award at both the national (Indonesia) and Southeast Asian levels for the mixed-media work Angs’t, which articulates the concept of empathy in response to personal experiences and collective memories of social conflict. In 2021, Suvi was awarded the Young Artist Award Arjog MMXXI for the work Telepresence After 20th.
Suvi’s artistic practice explores visual language through a poetic approach, expanding possibilities for interpreting tragic events related to socio-cultural tensions, both past and present, while also addressing issues of identity politics. Through participatory textual research, historical study, and the integration of autoethnographic methods into fine art, Suvi creates works that reframe dominant narratives, deconstruct discourses around social violence, and advocate for reconciliation and the cultivation of empathetic awareness in post-conflict contexts.

Title : Seroja Mengalir Sampai Jauh.
During a residency in Tubaba, the artist developed a work reflecting on rubber plantations and the social context surrounding them. The project evolved into the creation of artefacts and fictional histories, offering a narrative lens through which to explore the realities of rubber cultivation in the region.
The work responds to the plummeting price of rubber, which has left many plantations abandoned and overgrown. Throughout the residency, the artist visited these areas, observing the impact of economic decline on both the land and the communities dependent on it.
From this, the artist imagined a fictional character, “Ombar”, a figure who collects latex from neglected rubber trees. In the narrative, the local community observes Ombar only through the traces left behind: the thin trails of white latex stretching from tree to tree. This conceptual approach reflects on absence, loss, and the subtle ways communities engage with their environment, using fiction to illuminate social and ecological realities.
